NOTE: SPECIFICATION TABLES BEGIN ON PAGE 24 OF THIS SECTION.
Remove Control Lever Shaft
1. Remove “E” ring (1) from groove in shaft (2),
Fig. 60.
2. Slide control lever and shaft (3) out slowly until
lever clears boss on sump.
3. Slowly release spring tension and then remove
shaft, spring and “O” ring seal.
4. Inspect shaft assembly for loose lever, worn or
broken parts. Replace as needed.

Assemble Control Lever and
Shaft Assembly
1. Install return spring (1) on shaft and lever
assembly (3) as shown in Fig. 61.
2. Install “O” ring seal (2) on shaft.
3. Lubricate “O” ring and shaft lightly with engine oil.
4. Slide control lever assembly (3) into shaft bore,
Fig. 62, as far as it will go.
5. Rotate lever clockwise to put tension on return
spring.
6. When lever clears stop boss (4), push lever and
spring in until lever stops.
