VERTICAL PULL STARTER
Vertical pull starters have been made in two versions:
standard, Fig. 48, and alternate, Fig. 49.
NOTE: Before removing alternate style starter,
measure length of rope from starter
housing to rope handle at equipment
handle bar.

DISASSEMBLE
Remove Rope or Spring
1. Before servicing starter, all tension must be
removed from rope and spring.
CAUTION
DO NOT pull rope with the pulley cover
removed, unless the spring is detached from
spring anchor.
2. Use a screwdriver to lift the rope up approximately
one foot, Fig. 50.
3. Wind rope and pulley counterclockwise 4 turns, as
shown in Fig. 50. This will completely release
tension from the starter spring.
